I think this is the first day in months we have woken up to dry pavement and dry grass. It was 49 degrees F. at 7:00am. High is expected to be in the 60’s so we have a ways to go to get to 75. My brother was looking at the national map and says I may have to go to Mazatlan just to accomplish that. And that is not such a bad thing. I am hoping to reach Quartzville AZ by tomorrow. That will leave a couple hours to Phoenix and we will be able to relax in Qville a couple of days before pushing on. We want to spend Christmas with my brother and his family. It is also his birthday so it will be special.

Today is a laundry day. Gotta take advantage of the facilities while here. So we will be hanging out this morning. Like I said before this is quite the unexpected Oasis on this stretch of I-5. The ownership is very hospitable: when Von asked about check out time she was told they don’t really have one and to enjoy our stay. That’s nice. A lot of these places are anal about booting everyone out. I suppose in the high season that makes sense but the place is pretty empty this time of year.

Some additional thoughts on the Indian Casinos. Some will not know what I mean by dry camping or how it works. Dry camping refers to no hookups for the RV. No electric, no water, no gray/black water dumps. What with our batteries and generator and solar we are cool to stay for several (4 to 5) days without any issues. Longer than that the water tanks become a problem but for overnighting we have no particular need for the electric. The lack of TV sometimes forces us into paid parks for football games though.

I have solved much of the problem I started out with regarding internet access. It is getting to where most RV parks have WIFI but usually not for free. I signed on to AT&T’s aircard plan at $60 a month. Comparable price to most other ISP’s out there. On the drive from Redding to here we were hooked up to the internet the entire way so were able to monitor emails and respond quickly. We stop on the road about once an hour for me to stretch and Von to have a smoke so that is a great time to blog. I hope to post at least a few times a day.

Please leave comments. We need to feel like someone is paying attention! Errr, maybe that’s too revealing, eh?
