The email generated over a hundred page visits yesterday but only a few people signed on. At least we know someone looked! It would be cool if you would sign on if you haven’t already.

If you are worried about security, this is software on a server where I have this site hosted. gregledbetter.com is now my own domain. (you can buy a domain for as little as $10.00 a year.) Your email address will remain with me, I promise. It is free. The software is what is called “open source” meaning it is developed by a group of programmers working as a community and distributed for free. Everything I am using to build this site is done with open source software. Even the server was free if you merely visited the their forum every couple of weeks. I upgraded to a paid server. That was a whopping $5.00 per month. For that I have received excellent support via email, primarily from the owner. They are called x10hosting.

My plan to avoid traffic by starting driving at 7:30pm was a mixed result. It still took 2 hours to go 40 miles but I suppose at 5:30 it would have been 3 hours. That was not so bad but the weather turned absolutely s#*&%y. Very hard down pour and I lost that damn wiper blade again. I did have some silicone spray and that allowed us to continue the drive. Poor Von. The passenger side seat seems so close to the trucks she just freaks every time I pass a truck on the left.

The highway has generally allowed two right lanes for truck traffic. With Old Nellie floored at 3000 rpm which is the max torque zone we do about 62 mph. The truck traffic is about 20% more than that, 20% slower than that and the rest almost the same. So I spend most of the time in the left-most of the two right lanes and what with the various hills both upside and downside I have a lot of traffic to deal with.

By the end of the night, which wasn’t until almost 11:30 I was ready to pour Von a good stiff drink to calm her down. Either that or hit her with the bottle.:> She thought some Valium would be a better idea.:roll:

We actually do pretty well through those incredibly high stress situations. No yelling, or at least not much.:D

I didn’t really have a plan as to where to stay and just as we passed a WalMart (most of which allow a night of dry camping for free) and were talking about that option we saw a sign for another Indian Casino. This one is in Cabazon. They sure are nice for this purpose. We found a back lot away from all the parked but running trucks and slept until almost 8:00.

We woke up to a beautiful sunny morning and have but a short drive to Quartzsite. I will see if I can repair the windshield wiper there.

Time to get ready to leave. More later, hopefully from Arizona.
