Cactus Cactus everywhere
Boy today was a really interesting day. We toured the desert in the Saguaro National Park and saw all kinds of flora and fauna. There are several kinds of cacti in this desert but the towering Saguaro are the most impressive. After spending two days now in this environment I am beginning to appreciate it. It is so different from the forests that we are used to camping in.
There is a real downfall about being in the desert with a little long haired dog however. Poor Bentley ended up with cacti stickers matted in his hair and I got pricked trying to get them out. I bet they didn’t feel real good to him either.
We also are keeping him in his wire playpen when he is outside in our campsite because of the cacti stickers and the dangerous critters that are around in the desert. There are javelinas, which are little wild pigs, Western diamondback rattlesnakes, Gila monsters and coyotes that would love to have our little Bentley for a snack.
It’s really fun to experience these new things, especially without the rain. We got to 63 degrees today and it is forecasted to be 70 later this week. Wow, I’m loving this!!! ![]()
