Phoenix to Laughlin and the Casino by Greg

The drive out of Phoenix was difficult. I made the mistake of trusting the GPS software for the shortest route which in this case was not the fastest one. It took us out HWY 60 and it was 20 miles of stop and go heavy business district traffic. Von and I got separated when she missed the exit. I had bought walky talkys which didn’t work to keep in touch on the setting I had them on but the cell phones kept us in touch while she caught up with me.
The casino in Laughlin was a bit of a disappointment. They did have a very nice arrangement to overnight camp in their parking lot and it was only a short walk to get in. This was the Riverside Casino. We waited in line for about a half hour to get our Players Club card. It turned out to offer little for us since we are not big gamblers and it was oriented to building points rather than offering discounts. Usually these give a one time discount for the buffet but not here. We went ahead and did the buffet and this was the major cause of my calling the casino a disappointment. We were eating late, at 9:00. The food was the worst of the worst of buffet type food. They were getting ready to close down at 10:00 so they had let the selections dwindle at what was there had been in the steam table a long time. Oh well. Win some lose some. Speaking of which, I did not gamble at all and Von dropped twenty in the slots. Like I said not big time gamblers.
