Dread Locks by Von
I can’t believe that I drove the Jetta for 1300 miles.
Actually it wasn’t too bad. That little car is just right for me, I didn’t hurt or anything after any of the long days of driving. It was kinda fun to drive really. I got pretty tired of staring at Greg’s rear end (the motorhome and utility trailer) so I would soar out ahead of him and drive for awhile at the speed limit and then wait for him to catch up with me. The traffic wasn’t too bad all the way here. It was pretty tiring to do all the driving, but not too bad. ![]()
When we got to Kim and Jim’s house Bentley was in great need of a bath. Everybody said he looked like he had dread locks. Kim recommended a groomer here in Reedsport, so in went Bentley for his very first grooming. The owner wasn’t in town, but her daughter was in the shop and could wash Bentley. The daughter did not want to cut him however, and that was okay because I didn’t want his hair cut anyway. He had some really awful mats in his hair around his collar and she was going to have to work pretty hard on them to get them out.
She called her mother in a panic because she couldn’t get the mats out. Her mother told her what product to use and she was able to get them all out.
I brought him back to Kim and Jim’s house and nobody recognized him. He was 3 shades lighter and had beautiful shiny hair. No more dread locks!!
We all went to the beach the other afternoon. Bentley had never been to a beach and on sand before. It was really funny to watch him run around. I looked down at his tracks in the sand and they looked like a rabbit had bounced by. All four of his paws land and then they are all four showing up little space away. He bounces not runs.
We are camped in a really nice camp ground and Bentley and I went for his first trail walk this morning. At first he was a little scared about how dark it was but he got the hang of it really quickly. I told him a one point that if he stopped and smelled every leaf on the trail, we weren’t going to make much progress.
Kim’s kids have been here and it is fun to be around the young ones and look at the world through their eyes. They are such nice kids. Lots of activity going on around the house, especially since there are 4 dogs in this house. Kim has 2, Bryan (Kim’s son) has one and then there is Bentley. It think I might be getting “dogged” out.
