Of my 58 years I have been an Oregon resident for 52 of them. I lived in California while I went to college and about two years in Washington when I got my first job in insurance. It was a difficult thing to do particularly at this time when I lose a chance to vote for Merkely and on a number of important ballot measures. However there is an important Senate candidate we will get to vote for, Rich Noriega. Paying the state income tax in Oregon just didn’t make any sense when we will not be spending any time there so we bit the bullet and registered our car, motorhome, got drivers licenses and registered to vote in Texas. We are now officially Texans.

It has been a long two weeks since we left Klamath Falls. We wound up driving clean across Texas and back, a lot of driving but we did get to see our new residence, an RV park in Livingston and we expedited making the transition. The Escapees RV club we have belonged to for several years was very helpful in making sure we had our ducks in a row to make the move. It was somewhat complicated since Texas vehicle registrations are handled by the individual counties. You have to go to separate places to get a driver’s license and register the cars and they require a bunch of information for the motorhome, like a picture of it and proof of its dry weight.

I am writing this in Benson, Arizona at an Escapees Co-op. We will be leaving here today for another co-op in Casa Grande and plan to stay there for a month before we leave for Mexico. In the mean time we will be tying up with my brother and the younger of my two sisters for a trip to the Grand Canyon and a little golf. We did no site seeing during the last two weeks. It seemed like all we did was drive, drive, drive. That will change now.
