Grand Canyon by Greg
We saw the canyon for the first time. About all you can say is wow. We have all seen many photos but the scale of it can only be seen/felt to appreciate. We camped near the rim with my sister, brother, and sister-in-law. It was quite cold at night and we left the motorhome behind to save on fuel costs but we slept well in the camping gear we bought originally to motorcycle camp and will also take to Mexico when we go.
Speaking of fuel costs I paid $3.09 for diesel at a Chevron a mile from my brother’s condo. I just hope it goes lower and stabilizes but I saw where OPEC is meeting soon to cut back on supply. Also, we may have to sit tight here in Casa Grande for a bit longer to get caught up on our fuel bill, which we used a credit card to pay for while on the road. It’s been a long time since I haven’t paid off in full but I don’t think we can this time and we may have to hang tight until December, which means we may wait until January since December is hard to find lodging in Mazatlan due to Mexicans filling up the town for the holiday. We’ll decide in a few weeks.
We stayed a few nights in Phoenix visiting my brother at his condo before going to the canyon. Neither he nor his wife are dog people and wouldn’t you know it, poor Bentley came down with an intestinal infection which gave him the “squirts” as the vet called it. They are trying to sell the condo and had installed new carpet so they were not too happy but they were very nice about it. I’m afraid though we won’t be taking Bent back there and will stay in the motorhome in the future. The poor little guy was sick for several days but is now back to his usual self.
We also started today working on getting caught up with all the photo’s we have taken and will also (ROBERT) update the front page with a new picture to include Bent.
