You can see we have decided to change the appearance of the blog. I hope you like this one. Note at the top of the page a tabbed link to Greg’s Rants. I have resisted doing much politics or union related stuff here since I suspect most could care less about my thoughts about those things. That gives you a choice to ignore my ranting but still keep up with what we are doing (or have been doing since I am posting a lot of catch up pictures) from the past 6 or 7 months.
The photo albums aren’t getting much action, I suspect because we weren’t doing much besides posting the pics as they came out of the camera without captions or comment. That has changed with the recent additions.
I have been spending a lot of time on the computer, not blogging politics but learning new software. I actually installed the Linux Ubuntu operating system (dual booting with Windows)and played with it for a week before deciding it just didn’t give me what I wanted. I had hoped to be able to give up Windows but that’s not in the cards. But in the process I have learned a lot about my computer hardware and software besides having a lot of geeky fun.
We are doing great. The recent political news is the best in 8 long years and I finally feel some hope for this country. I felt like a voice in the wilderness with so many people I liked and cared about but whose political views just seemed so wrong to me.
We are enjoying our time here in Casa Grande. Our pace has slowed down tremendously and we have decided to hang out here long enough for Bentley/Von to go to 8 weeks of obedience training. That means we will be here until the mid January. We still hope/plan to go down to Mexico for a month or so to do some exploring. If we like it we may move there, primarily for health care reasons. Jim Cook, formally an organizer at SEIU 503 who moved there some time ago, calls himself a health insuance refugee. That seems about right.
We would love to see more folks sign up to me members of this blog and to see many more comments. We see about 40 to 60 visits here per day but comments are rare. (My son says it’s probably the same three people returning repeatedly.) I had hoped for this to be a conversation rather than just me beebling away. You can sign up at the link below on the right hand side that says register.
Here’s a happy picture of the three of us on the Metolious.
