My webhost provides several different programs to measure hits on the website and they don’t always make sense to me. The blog software itself says the blog was hit 228 times yesterday. We usually get about 30 or 40 per day. I have to assume a lot of those hits were generated by Robert Gourley’s email that provided a link to to the blog entry I did about my altercation with Joe.
Another program says that for the month of November there were 103 unique visitors and that each one came back just over 3 times each. The unique visitors for the month of October was 328. Amazingly it says over a hundered hits came from Great Britain. What’s that about? About 30 foks went to Greg’s Rants yesterday. So my son’t theory that it is 3 people returning over and over is a little pessimistic.
Yesterday I tried to upgrade to a newer version of the photo gallery software and wound up crashing the site. Thanks to the great support the host server provided we were back up within 3 hours. I am sticking with the original version for the time being.
I also want to upgrade the blogger program. I have tested out the newer version and it has quite a lot more functionality than the current version. I asked the support desk at the host (x10hosting) who happens to be the owner to help me with that upgrade and he agreed to help but given his schedule it could be a few days.
At any rate there will likely be some changes to this blog that will hopefully make it more intuitive to post comments. It sure would be nice to have more conversations here rather than my yakking and yakking.
Oh, the log software also indicated a lot more hits on the photo gallery than I had thought so that is cool.
