Weather
We are planning to drive to Oregon this weekend and have been following the weather forecasts rather closely. Glad we weren’t going up today.
Caltrans and Oregon ODOT both have websites with roadcams so we can actually see live or close to live pictures of the entire I-5 corridor. Snow all the way from just north of Redding, CA to Portland. Caltrans allows a view of all the cameras in a particular region with one click. Oregon makes it a bit more complicated but you can choose and save up to 10 cameras on a cookied webpage. Way cool and extremely valuable for winter travel.
Fortunately and hopefully correctly the forecast for our anticipated drive times is for better weather next week. Cold but at least sunny and dry for the few days after Christmas when we hope to drive the motorcycle back to Arizona. I have an electric vest and gloves that plug into the motorcycle battery and work like an electric blanket so I should be able to stay warm enough to get south of Redding where the weather is usually dramatically better.
The webcams for Oregon can be found here. For California they are here.
And here’s a photo from last January in Eugene.
The weather here in Casa Grande is much better. 40 some degrees with cloudy skies and rain forecast for later today but that’s a whole lot better than you folks in Oregon are experiencing.
