Trek on the Trike by Von

I went for a ride on the motorcycle yesterday for the first time in years (probably 3). It was a really weird feeling when we bumped over stuff with the 3 wheels. It took awhile for me to feel relaxed and comfortable riding on 3 wheels instead of 4 or 2. I did really enjoy it once I got it into my head that we were not going to tip over like I felt on the 2 wheels. Now that Greg has gotten me on the motorcycle again the next challenge is going to be getting Bentley to ride on it with us. I have a backpack for him to ride in on my chest and we have ordered some “Mutt Muffs” for his ears. The noise of the trike will hurt his ears, so we bought some ear muffs for dogs that fly in airplanes and hopefully they will muffle the noise for him.

Bentley and I have been going to training here in Casa Grande, AZ for about 5 weeks of training. He is the best dog in the class (of course). In fact, the trainer uses him to show the rest of the class what she wants us to do. He wants to please so badly that once he figures out what you want he will knock himself out trying to do it. I have to change up the commands once in awhile or he will automatically do the new command without even being asked ‘cause he wants those treats so badly.

Bentley is soooo happy to be home here in Casa Grande. He missed the neighbors carrying on about him and giving him treats and all of the doggy buddies he greets as they are going to the dog walk and passing by our spot. He is a really good traveler however. He just sleeps in the passenger seat of the car while we are driving for hours and hours. When we stop at a hotel Greg and I are tired from all the driving and Bentley is raring to go ‘cause he had slept all day. I did bring along some of his toys and Greg and I threw them around the hotel room for him, but I don’t think Bentley thought we were playing enough, but on the other hand, I don’t think he thinks we play enough any time. He’s like a little kid and gets all wound up and doesn’t want to stop. He is so much fun to have around!!

The weather here is so nice. Sunny and NO RAIN! It did get rather cold last night. When I went out this morning for Bentley’s constitutional, it was only 30 degrees. BRRR. It is supposed to get into the 60s today, so a little cold is all right with me. Going back to Oregon and being in the rain for days makes me realize why we have picked Arizona to stay in the winter. We definitely are “rain birds"!!
