God and football players

I am so sick of seeing/hearing whoever the winning player is who gets interviewed on the field after the game thanking God or Jesus for the victory. It is so incredibly egocentric, do they think they were rewarded for being especially devout? And the other team was especially evil? I must remember to change the channel before those damned interviews begin.
