Blogging from new notebook computer
We decided we needed a smaller computer box to fit into the limited space we have on the trike and so bought one of the e-computers. I’ve had a couple of issues getting started but so far we like it a lot. There are no cd/dvd drives installed so getting all the software on it we need has been something of a problem. Most stuff is available for download so we can get things that way but there are a few exceptions.
I intend to try out Ubuntu (Linux) again since it uses so many fewer resources and this box doesn’t have the cpu or ram that XP needs. In fact I am working in Ubuntu right now.
We’ve been sitting pretty tight for the past week, ran out of money when we had to put a full month’s rent down for a deposit to hold the spot we wanted at the RV park in Doubleadobe. Thankfully payday is coming on Friday.
My twin’s turned 24 yesterday! Happy Birthday to them both. I was working my first job as an insurance adjuster for Grange Mutual in Chehalis WA when they were born. It’s hard to remember all the changes in my life since then, and how different things turned out from what I had imagined at that time.
We went to two movies yesterday, the matinee of Gran Turino and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Both were the kind of movie to get a 58 year old man thinking about his life. “Nothing stays the same” is a line in Button. It"s a coined phrase but certainly hits home for us.
Both were very good movies. I wanted to see the new Philip Seymour Hoffman flick, Doubt” but it has already left town. Perhaps later.
I may have mentioned that I ordered some accessories for the trike to make Von more comfortable, a kit to move the tour pack that her back rests against back two inches to give her more room since I also added a driver backrest and armrests that include a drinkholder. Unfortunately when the packages arrived one was the wrong version so we had to return it to the Harley dealer in Tucson. I think she will be a lot more comfortable when I get them installed. It will make the trike more like the Honda Gold Wing so far as the passenger is concerned.
We may make an overnight trike trip a couple of hundred miles to the Organ Cactus National Park on the border, depends on the weather. A rain storm is forecast for the next couple of days.
