We finally went over the border even though it was only for a very short walk to import some cigarettes for Von. There is a store that is actually on the US side that sells duty free/tax free products, mostly tobacco and liquor. You can by it here then you have to cross over and re-enter, declaring the import with US Customs. You’re limited to one carton per person. The savings was $15.00 a carton and it was fun to actually go into Mexico. The differences are striking in the half mile from the US Douglas to the Mexican Agua Prieta. It gave Von a chance to see. She got a little nervous and I really, really want to get enough Spanish to get by with before we go down for any length of time.

Here’s the entrance to the town. That’s Von in the lower right corner.

We had lunch at the Gadsden Hotel in Douglas before we went over the border and I took my own pictures of the stained glass windows. This is an HDR image I created using some specialized software. I’m gonna discuss this technique in another post.
