Eastern Time Zone

Amazingly, this is my first time ever in the eastern time zone. So we lost another hour yesterday and our now 3 hours ahead of you in the Pacific Northwest. We are at St. George Island this morning and Have a 183 mile ahead of us today to the O’Leno State Park not far north of Gainesville.

This is another beautiful park and is a birder’s paradise. It is off the beaten path and saw signs referring to it as the “forgotten coast.”

I made the mistake yesterday of following the signs to the scenic route in Panama City which turned out to be scenery of condos and hotels blocking the view of the beaches save for every quarter mile or so where a narrow public access allowed a quick look to the Gulf and sandy beaches. We rode about 150 miles and most of it was excellent roads, 4 lanes with a large grassy meridian. Forty miles was through congested traffic, either tourist traps or business district.

No time to get any photos up this morning as we need to get rolling earlier than our usual noonish start.
