O'Lena State Park, Florida

The road yesterday reminded me of parts of Oregon. Much of it through pine forests, mixed with a kind of scrub oak but lined on the road edge with what I call a fan palm since the leaves are fan shaped. We saw a few logging trucks as well. The road, highway 27, had very little traffic and was well paved with little or no crown so it made for an excellent ride on the trike. There was not much in the way of scenery but it was very pretty.

If one is looking for sweeping vistas one is out of luck in Florida, the highest point in the entire state is 325 feet.

O’Lena Park is infested with ticks, Bentley managed to acquire one within minutes of getting to our camp spot. Von is creeped out by them so we will be getting a quick start to Lake Louisa which is only 138 miles from here and only a few miles from DisneyQuest. We have reservation for three nights there.

Here are a couple of pictures of St. George Island. It reminded me somewhat of the Oregon Dunes what with the grassy dunes between the road and the beach.

I should have time at the next campsite to get a bunch more pictures up, this one night stand stuff doesn’t leave much time to post any of the photos we have taken.
