I posted a few photos of us at the Kennedy Space Center here. Jenny asked in a comment if I was disappointed to not go to Disney. I was not at all but I was not to be able to go into the Space Center. I was something of a geeky kid in the 50’s when the space program began and I had a friend who had cardboard cut out replicas of the rockets that I used to play with. I have always been a science fiction reader as well, beginning in grade school with Robert Heinlein’s “Rocket Ship Galileo” so it would have been fun for me. It was cool anyway just driving through Cape Canaveral.

Some shots of the park at Daytona are here.

We passed through St. Augustine after stopping for lunch at the Fort Matanzas National Monument and getting another passport stamp. It was a boat ride to the actual fort and they did not allow dogs so we didn’t get to actually go to the fort.

There are a lot of forts along the coast here, Spanish ones from the 1700’s. St. Augustine was a hoped for stop but it was traffic heavy and parking was impossible so we kept on trucking on.

The drive up A1A to Fort Clinch was mostly more condos and million dollar homes blocking views of a beautiful beach when we could see it. Traffic wasn’t bad, we took one ferry ride and were soon at Fort Clinch.

It’s another nice Florida State park. Perhaps the best thing to us about Florida is the quality of the parks. I’ve commented about them already, that even the tent sites have power and water in the sites. It makes it nice to be able to use the computer.
