Charleston to antietam

We received our package at 10:00 am. I gotta give kudos to Chase and to USPS for the prompt delivery.

We left the hotel at noon and headed a little south and east on Highway 60 to the New River Gorge visitor center. We didn’t do much sightseeing as the trails were all pretty strenuous but we did get another National Park passport stamp. The road was nice and curvy to the park. From there it was all freeway and we rode 386 miles to leave 580 miles to Plattsbrgh. We are in the middle of a lot of civil war sites and will be visiting Antietam and Gettysburg this morning.

We had more hotel hassles with two full ones and one that was 90% empty but would not accept pets so we had to do some more night driving in deer country but we took it easy and made it okay.

West Virginia is as pretty as they say, the freeway was actually okay to drive as there wasn’t a lot of truck traffic and the road was hilly and lots of sweeper curves. The weather was perfect, mostly sunny but only in the 70’s which makes for great motorcycling.
