Valentine, Nebraska
Yesterday was very similar to the day before. Highway 20 through Nebraska is an excellent road and we were making good time, hoping to do 500 miles to Rapid City, SD. Again in the late afternoon dark clouds appeared on the horizon but we again were pulling into a small town. We gassed up and talked to some truckers coming from the direction we are heading towards. We again decided to get a hotel room and watched a severe T-storm pass through that generated tornado warnings on the local news.
The people in Nebraska have been extremely friendly. Even the farmers and ranchers working in their fields and yards wave as we roar by. And I do mean roar. The low clearance on the trike has caused us to scrape bottom so many times that the mufflers are working at about half their original muffling capabilities. One trucker we chatted with while gassing up told us he could hear us from a couple miles away. I am going to replace them in Rapid City where we will be spending a few days site seeing.
