Great Falls, MT
We stayed two nights at a KOA a few miles south of Whitefish. Whitefish is a little tourist town with a small old downtown area with a ton of restaurants and small boutique shops. We had lunch there on day. We drove into Glacier Park and got our passport stamped and decided that because there was so much traffic not to take the Road to the Sun and went around the southern edge of the park on Hwy 2.
We drove 225 miles to Great Falls where an old friend, Duane, Dewey Stark lives. He lived across the street from me all through high school. I had called him and we exchanged voice mails until this morning when he called so we are getting together for breakfast in a few minutes so I’m gonna have to get going.
The weather has been great for a change, if a little on the hot side.
We have been following much of the route Lewis and Clark took and it is amazing to see the country that party hiked and canoed through. Another lesson in geography for us, I didn’t have a clue that Great Falls was on the Missouri River.
