Double Adobe
Home Again! 19,000 miles and 30 some states. I need to go back to double check how many states exactly. We spent 2 nights in Flagstaff then drove 140 miles to Phoenix where we stayed at my brother’s condo for three more nights. Phoenix in August is not a comfortable place to be without air conditioning and while I guess you could say the motorcycle is “air conditioned” it isn’t cooled. We had been riding for so many days in intense heat it took as those five days indoors to recover.
We had a great dinner and visit with Glen Horsmann and his wife, Beth but mostly just kicked back indoors and read or watched the PGA golf tourney. Thanks to my bro for letting us use his place.
It has been hot here in Double Adobe but not the 110 degrees that Phoenix has been having. We are at about 5000 feet elevation so it is 10 to 15 degrees cooler here, hot but bearable though we have had the air conditioner on for 8 hours a day. I hate to see how much our electric bill will be but we couldn’t stand it otherwise. It should be cooling down here soon, rains are forecast the next couple of days. It is the so called monsoon season here but there has not been much rain.
When we got back here and got off the trike we discovered that all our leathers, which had been strapped to the top of the trailer, had fallen off somewhere in the 240 miles between here and Phoenix. A real bummer, those things are not cheap. Then when I tried to fire up the laptop we had left in the motorhome it would not start. I’m guessing the temperatures in the motorhome must have reached 120 degrees or more and just fried it. So we had to buy a new laptop which I am working on right now. I bit the bullet and sprang for a Macbook Pro. I have been wanting to go Mac for years now and decided now was the time. I have been working for two days to get everything set up on it. It is a sweet little machine and will enable me to start working on all the photos we have been taking but which were too much hassle to do anything with on the little notebook. Watch for new posts either here or in the photoblog.
I also have been getting caught up on the goings on by Obama and Congress. Not a pretty thing but it did get me riled up enough to post a new Rant.
